It seems that war starts in the heads of people… I get that. Not really a happy subject on this Happy site, but today is International Day of Peace. That’s something to be happy about. I just thought of my trip to Estonia, where people have been free since 40 years. That’s not a long period of time. It makes me realize that I’m a lucky person, being able to say what I think in my country for so many years now.
Especially in times where people have short fuses, make assumptions, interpretate words or sentences in a negative way, it’s good to think about peace for one day. I know it’s hard not to take things personal. It’s often something small that leads to big emotions.
Wouldn’t it be great if schools tell the children to ask what was meant before the get upset about a remark that was made? Wouldn’t it be great if we tell the children to give without expecting something in return? Wouldn’t it be great if we ask someone why they do something, before judging them? The step towards peace and a sense of freedom isn’t that big if we teach them all these things.
Luckily I see more and more projects to make sure people are connecting. The National Day for Neighbours in my country is a great example (September 26th). If you know each other, it’s so much easier to knock on the door if the music is a bit loud. Or you know Mrs. Smith needs to listen to Abba for an hour, because she’s misses her husband. . The strong odour of spicy food in the hall isn’t always nice, but if you knew that Fatima is cooking a special meal for her brother, who is coming over from abroad… I think you may cope with the smell and think “Gosh.. how wonderful she’s doing that for her brother, cooking for days”.
Peace is a lot more. It’s wanting to understand each other, wanting to acknowledge the differences, letting people be who they are, wanting to help each other and wishing each other the best.
Peace starts with you. By the way you look at society. By the way you talk about things. By the way you teach children what peace is. By paying more attention to the positive things in the world.
I wish you all a happy International Day of Peace and hope you will spend it in a way that fits your awesome personality.
I wouldn’t waste this chance to express my appreciation to those who were involved in this important event to whole world, peace is something which became the most wanted issue to the world, this world which is suffering from starvation, blood shades and the abandoned of many people to their homes , if we will just focus on the negativity that surrounds us we might need to write book’s, and not just like that we might have ourselves stuck in the mud of hate .
what is more important to do is to show each other the good intentions, by respecting the differences between each other , share the ideas and thoughts and most of all is showing love to each other not just by word’s but by actions by helping each other’s if it was possible.
If everyone in this world will be confident to start by himself to show and spread his lovely I think Peace will be the new world order 🙂
Respect and love to all 🙂
Peace is a gift to be freely given without any expectation of return. Give freely and this wonderful world will reap the rewards. Thanks Ernestine for helping others on this ever-ending path to peace. ❤️
